August 16--second session

Today I had a quick session with Mya. At first we did some friendly game and circling game to get connected but soon both of us decided it was too hot to do active stuff like that. I wondered what new thing I could teach her that did not need much moving. Lead by the tail was what I had decided to play with. I started by asking her to back up working my way down the zones. Soon she backed up when I tapped her bum. Next I progressively made it lighter and lighter until she would back up a step or two when I tapped at phase one (''hair''). Next I began to tap the base of her tail with my finger. When she responded I moved on to taking a few tail hairs and very lightly put a feel on them using rhythmic pressure. Mya responded and did one unsure step back. I rubbed her and praised her with my voice. I let her have two bites of grass for learning something new. After practicing a couple of times Mya did five slow but sure steps back guided by only a few hairs. We ended the session there as I wanted to finish on a good note.
